Claerwen was born and still lives in Radnorshire.
She studied at the Byam Shaw School, completed the National Diploma for Fine Arts
and won the David Murray studentship at the Royal Academy.
Claerwen primarily paints domestic still lives and landscapes, inspired by objects around her home and garden
and more recently life in Aberystwyth.
Claerwen has exhibited at the Royal Academy and the New English Art Club.
Her work has been at the Thackeray Gallery in London since 1996.
